CITB SKILLS &
TRAINING FUND

The CITB Skills and Training Fund is an industry funded incentive aimed at smaller construction or construction-related contractors with less than 251 PAYE staff to support them in the training and up-skilling of their staff. Employers can apply twice in any 12 month period, but can only have 1 live project at a time. Construction training isn’t just a matter of compliance, it’s a matter of safety and it’s in the interest of all key stakeholders within the industry. Safeteam can support you in the application process and any funds allocated by the CITB must be used towards courses detailed within CITB grant scheme be it NPORS or CPCS ​plant training, CPCS testing, construction NVQ’s or even short duration courses like PASMA or IPAF.

What Is the CITB Skills & Training Fund?

CITB Skills and Training is intended for smaller construction companies with 250 or less PAYE staff, to provide assistance with developing the skillset of their workforce, this ultimately will not only increase the safety of UK sites but can aid contractors in remaining compliant and even secure more work.

Safeteam can provide training and grant cost breakdowns for you to include in your application or even submit the application on your behalf with a little understanding as to any gaps you may have, or training required for future contracts or recruitment drives.

How Much Funding Am I Entitled To?

CITB Levy registered companies with no more than 250 PAYE staff can apply for funding twice in 12 months but can only have 1 live funding project at a time, as soon as the training has been evidenced employers can then apply for a second round of funding. These funds support the delivery of skills and training interventions.

The amount of funding you can apply for depends on the number of PAYE staff in the business, see a breakdown below: 

Small and micro-sized businesses;

Employers with CIS only (no PAYE) can receive up to £2,500.00

01 – 49 PAYE staff can receive up to £5,000.00

50 – 74 PAYE staff can receive up to £7,500.00

75 – 99 PAYE staff can receive up to £10,000.00

Medium-sized businesses;

​100 – 149 PAYE staff can receive up to £15,000.00

150 – 199 PAYE staff can receive up to £20,000.00

200 – 250 PAYE staff can receive up to £25,000.00​

EMPLOYER NETWORK

The CITB Employer Network Fund is a program designed to help UK construction businesses access vital workforce training at a fraction of the cost and as easily as possible. This initiative enables businesses to improve their employees' skills and qualifications while remaining compliant with industry standards. To be eligible for the funding, businesses must be registered with the CITB and up-to-date on their levy payments. The Employer Network scheme offers £25,000.00 in funding per emplpoyer annually with CITB covering 70% of the cost of individual bookings, meaning that you only need to contribute 30%.

What courses can I get funded?

The fund provides businesses with access to a broad selection of training options tailored to their specific needs, and can be used for any of the 220 + courses that Safeteam deliver. One key advantage of this fund is that the training programs do not have to be grant-eligible, giving businesses the flexibility to choose courses that best align with the needs of their workforce and the ability to fund courses that can’t be claimed via traditional routes. Additionally, training under this scheme does not require advanced planning like other CITB programs; courses can be booked on an ad-hoc basis, offering greater flexibility to employers.

How do I register for the CITB Employer Network Scheme?

To take advantage of the CITB Employer Network Fund:

Contact Us: We’ll assist you in completing the registration paperwork and will offer advice and guidance subject to your specific needs.  

Set Up Process: We’ll introduce you to your local CITB Employer Network representative who will get you up and running on the system and able to start processing bookings

Scheduling & Payments: Once the training is planned and booked, you’ll merely receive an invoice for 30% of the total cost.

We Handle the Rest: Our team will manage the process of invoicing CITB for the remaining 70%, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. We’ll deliver the training and all certification cards will come direct to you.
